The Wilsona School District participates in the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program by offering healthy meals every school day. At all school locations within the district, healthy lunches and breakfasts are served at no charge to each child every school day. The meal programs that we provide are supported by federal and state reimbursements that are based on household income and eligibility.

We are pleased to inform you that Wilsona School District will continue to participate in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) for the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs during the 2021-2022 School Year.

Schools that participate in the CEP are able to provide healthy breakfasts and lunches each day at no charge for all students enrolled in that CEP school during the 2021-2022 School Year.

You will not be required to fill out an application for free or reduced priced meals during the remainder of the CEP cycle.

Our cafeterias meet Federal nutritional standards and State requirements for school meals in accordance with our Nation’s effort to provide all children with healthy food and the nutrition they need to succeed at school.  All meals, foods and beverages are prepared and served by qualified Child Nutrition professionals. We plan menus that children will enjoy with access to a variety of affordable and appealing foods that meet the health and nutrition needs of students.

School meals at Wilsona School District meet strict guidelines on saturated fat, sodium levels, portion sizes and calorie limits.  Students will be served larger portions of fresh fruits and vegetables in a wide variety of colors and more legumes along with all grain products being whole grain rich.  We utilize Offer vs. Serve in which the meal pattern is a choice of entrees, grains, fruits and vegetables.  Students must select at least 3 food items to qualify as a reimbursable meal, one of which must be a full serving of a fruit or vegetable.  1% white milk and non fat milk will be offered with each meal served.

If your child is in need of special meals and/or accommodations you must have a medical statement to request special meals and/or accommodations on file with the Child Nutrition Office.  This form is available to download and print on the link below. There are also hard copies available in each school office.  These forms must be filled out completely by a State Licensed Healthcare Professional and updated annually.  If an acceptable substitution is not listed, the form will be returned for completion.  Please note, although we do our best to accommodate all requests it is not always possible for us to do so.  Once your request has been received and reviewed, you will be notified by the Child Nutrition Office.  If you turn in a Medical Statement and do not receive a response within a week, please call our office at (661) 264-1111 xt 7212.
